Introducing Sweet Jane

I’m excited to finally introduce my latest pattern, Sweet Jane.

Sweet Jane is a simple pullover with a ton of style. It gets its modern styling from colour blocking, side slits and a step hem. Wear it with your favourite t-shirt and jeans for a casual weekend look or dress it up for work over an oxford and pencil skirt. Made from a warm, heathery wool/hemp blend that is lovely to knit, this sweater is a quick and satisfying project.
The pattern is available as a 4-page PDF .

Road trip!

I’m celebrating the beginning of spring with a trip down south to Vogue Knitting Live in Bellevue, Washington. I’ll be at the Hemp for Knitting booth in the Marketplace on Saturday April 5th, 10am to 1pm. I’ll have copies of Covet, samples of some of my projects, and (hopefully!) a new pattern in Hempwol to share.

Get into Bayswater for spring

Bayswater from Interweave Knits Spril 2013My latest design, Bayswater, is out in the Spring issue of Interweave Knits. It’s a swingy asymmetrical top is a simple, stylish sleeveless top worked mostly in the round in a sport-weight linen.

The allover slip-stitch rib gives the fabric flattering vertical lines but it does not cling like traditional ribbing. The sloping hemline is created by working different numbers of mitred decreases at each side. It would look fantastic over leggings or a pencil skirt.

This top is meant to be worn with negative ease at the bustline. The A-line shape means that it will skim your body from the bust down.

Bayswater beach is in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood. It’s rocky and a bit wild. My mother played there all the time when she was growing up.

Happy holidays!

Here is a little Fetching gift for you: free gift tags for your holiday knitting! There are six different double-sided tags (full-colour on one side and b&w on the other), which can be printed on letter-sized paper.

Printing tip: For best results, print in colour on cardstock, and set your printer for “actual size” (make sure it’s not set to “shrink to fit”).

Download the PDF here.

Winter is coming . . .

. . . and so are the holidays! Here are some quick Fetching projects that you can whip up in a snap for gifts or for yourself.

Welcome to the new Fetching Knits website

I’m happy to finally introduce my updated web site. It’s been in the works since the end of 2011 but somehow knitting projects kept taking priority. If you’re looking for something from my old site and can’t find it, please let me know and I’ll try to help. I’d also be happy to hear from you if you have any thoughts you’d like to share, or suggestions or requests for this new site. – Cheryl

Anina will spice up your wardrobe

I’m excited to announce that Fresh Designs: Sweaters is now available from Cooperative Press, with 11 new projects, from tanks to hoodies. Check out my camisole pattern Anina, which I made using delicious pima cotton from Americo.
Anina is a summery cotton camisole that’s perfect paired with a fitted denim skirt or floaty linen trousers. Bare your shoulders and soak up the sun: the adjustable i-cord straps and customizable bust sizing help ensure a perfect fit.

This project is named for the wonderful co-owner of Urban Yarns in Vancouver, who helped me choose my first yarn and needles when I was learning to knit, and continues to encourage me every time I see her.
